DR.. do you think you could put a sticky on this post so that it stays on top.. I think it would be a great list to refer to on a routine basis..

That is pretty cool Dryrod. Let me know when we could add more of the species to the list. It would be awesome to have them all at your fingertips.[cool]

Great list of fish.....although Wikipedia is not always exactly right. Cruised a few of my Alaskan fish in there and found the Dolly Varden entry to be a bit off the mark. North American dollies exist as either the northern subspecies, salvelinus malma malma, or the southern subspecies, salvelinus malma lordii (or s. m. krascheninnikovi if you are Russian). The article states s.m.malma extends to Puget sound...not true....the southern most extension of norther dolly varden is the Susitna River a bit north of Anchorage and these fish are almost exclusively anadramous and consequently the largest of the dollies. The southern dolly extends from the Susitna River to Puget Sound in Washington and are primarily, although not exclusively, lacustrine or riverine. Although virtually identical in size and shape they are easy for biologists to seperate as they have different numbers of chromosomes.

Sorry, don't mean to pontificate but I am a stickler for accuracy....this information can be found in Robert Behnke's books on salmonids.

Nice reference source.

We do have a ton more the we are going to add. There are a total of 422 species in the Pacific Ocean. 300 of them are local to Southern California and off shore access.
