Well...the good news first. I went to Wahlzburg bay at Deer Creek on Sunday and for the first time this year I didn't get skunked....that's really only 3 or 4 trips, but still, it had to happen sometime.
The other first....I caught my very first large mouth, 4 of them to be exact. Here's the pathetic part, biggest was only about 10 inches, others were between 6 and 8 and were all caught on worms under a bobber.
I was taking advantage of my recently purchased 2 pole permit and was drowning worms with one pole while throwing out tube jigs and other stuff with the other one. Tried a white tube jig, a black curly tail, a chartreuse curly tail and got nothing. Only the chartreuse curly tail got some follows, had several bass follow it all the way to shore but they never went for it. I tried for some trout with a Kastmaster and a jakes and didn't get anything with them either. Meanwhile I had the 4 little guys that ended up liking the worm on my bobber set up better than anything I was throwing. I could see a bunch of little ones hanging around some weeds near the shore.
Spent 2 hours there, from 8ish to 10ish, water has come up considerably since last time I was there. Probably ten feet or so.
