?????????????????????????????????????

Report I heard while there two weeks ago was that the fishing was incredible! Not sure if it still is or not. It has been the best spring fishing the lake has seen in several years. I have a home there and wasn't there to fish. Neighbor caught a 15 pounder! Not sure what they were using. Hopefully someone will chime in that can give more specifics. Goood luck!

I was up there last week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) and we had great fishing. We did not see any of the hardware fishermen doing very well, but everyone throwing flies was cleaning up. There were a ton of midges on the water (and in my nose and ears) Dark leaches with small nymphs on a slow retrieve seemed to do the trick. We tried fishing deep at times but it seemed that most of good fish came in the top five or six feet. Good luck up there. When the lake slows down at midday, the Madison was fishing quite well in spite of the big flows.

I was up there last weekend and the fishing was awsome. I was just trolling with my pontoon and I cleaned up. My lure of choice was a #5 blue fox spinner in rainbow colors. The biggest fish I caught was five lbs. But I only fished a total of 6 hours and caught 30 fish. My dad was in his boat trolling with his kicker motor and I out fished 4 guys with my pontoon. I think the biggest key would be to be quiet. If you have an electric motor use it, if not then just drift or anchor and cast. And you dont need to go into the big cluster of boats I was just out infront of the state park. hopefully this helps.

I'm heading up to Wade Lake and the Madison this Saturday for a week. Would you mind divulging what bugs were working for you on the Madison ? Were you nymphing or on top ? Thanks for any info !

What a great place to go. I am jealous. Don't forget to hit Yellowstone Lake, around the west thumb. Easy to get a lot of Yellowstone Cutthroat on any dark woolly buggers..

Stoneflies and Caddis, nymphs I would say haresears, Copper Johns, Prince Nymphs, and PT. They always work for me.

I'm not grading you. Posts in all caps are difficult to read, at least for me, and I don't believe I am alone.

[cool][#0000ff]Lighten up. It is considered "bad form" or lazy to post on public forums in all caps. It is the same as SHOUTING. It takes no time at all to unclick the all caps button.[/#0000ff]

Sorry for the delayed response. This is in response to the questions about the Madison. Hopefully you get this before you leave. I was actually throwing large sculpins and rather large (#8 or10) soft hackle caddis (turn over a rock when you're up there and you'll see why). The key wasn't so much which bug, but getting them right on the bottom. So as not to highjack this post, send me a PM and I can go over how to set up your rig for the heavier flows. Good luck up there.
