Went on a wild hog hunt last weekend. Had a great time and was able to harvest this boar with my muzzle loader. One shot did the trick and boy was I glad it did. These hogs were mean.

Was that the Corrine hog hunt? Nice Pig.

He's a porker dude. Nice Hog BABYYYY!

Yes it is. I was pleasantly surprised to see this isn't fenced hunt at all. He has just over 5,000 acres of hunt able property and the animals are free to come and go. Hunting these mean and agressive pigs sure added excitement.

Thanks brutha! We're gonna do it again in Feb. You should join us.

I would love to. Will stay in touch with it

I would really like to do that hunt. I just need to save up some money.
What did you shoot it with? Do you mind sharing how much the hunt was? Was it worth it? See a lot of pigs?

It was well worth it in my opinion. There were 6 of us and we all scored. There were lots of pigs and even a few goats, sheep runnin around too. The nice thing is that it's a guaranteed hunt. I shot mine with a .50 cal TC omega with iron sights, my first kill with my muzzy. Powmow1 shot his with his bow. The guides had us back each other up cause these pigs charge. Before hand I was a bit concerned that it would end up being a canned type hunt, but it was anything but that. I was very happy with how cool the guides were too, they took care of everything. They have smaller hog hunts for $375 or the big hog hunts for $475. Their butcher is reasonably priced too, I think he charges like .37 cents a pound.

Cool!
Just curious, what does a pig do when it charges? How do they attack? Do they just ram you or will they try to bite you?
[signature]
Guide said he's had a few clients get run over and some even cut up. I don't think they bite, they thrash their head and get you with their tusks. Tusks don't have to be all that big either cause they're razor sharp.

Very nice! Should make for some good eats.
I would be interested on how a wild hog tastes compared to domesticated.

That's cool! I've always wondered about this hunt...thanks for sharing the info. I might have to give it a whirl and go shoot one with my bow and get my first bow kill out of the way.[cool]

Nice pig! Congrats!
So what load did you shoot him with? Bullet size and Charge.
I'd like to do that hunt someday... [cool]

It really was a fun and relatively inexpensive hunt. They'll even let you camp overnight at no xtra charge. I used 150 grains of triple seven powder (pellets) and a 250 grain spire point shock wave slug.

It was really cool seeing one taken with a bow. There were a few intense moments there but it sure was fun..

[cool]Another thing...do you mind sharing contact info for this hunt?
[signature]
Wow, that is a nice hog. Did I read that right, the hunt was here in Utah?
[signature]
Not a problem. I'll shoot ya a pm.
[signature]
That's right. So close you wouldn't believe it.[

You said they are on a 5,000 acre ranch, I would think they would run away and into other parts of Utah if there wasn't a fence. How do you think they are keep them is that area?
