The bodies of two missing DeFuniak Springs brothers, who went fishing Sunday afternoon on Choctawhatchee Bay in the Panhandle, were recovered yesterday.
Searchers, including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Walton County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Coast Guard and volunteers, recovered the body of Logan Alford, 17, Monday around noon after combing Choctawhatchee Bay south from Alaqua Creek since late Sunday evening. The body of his brother, Lucas Alford, 21, was found at 6 p.m. Monday.

Lt. Mark Hollinhead, an FWC law enforcement supervisor, said witnesses reported seeing the brothers Sunday afternoon fishing on the south side of the bay near Hog Town Bayou. A thunderstorm rolled through the area late in the afternoon. Authorities now believe the brothers may have attempted to cross the bay in their small aluminum boat during the squall.

Their aluminum boat was found around midnight on Sunday full of water on the north side of the bay near the mouth of Alaqua Creek. Searchers recovered some of the brothers' personal effects during the night, including a ball cap.
