[#002850]Of all the fishing reports I have ever put up in the past, this has got to be one of my favorites. Yea, I’ve said that many times but, still I think this one tops them all. So you will just have to pardon me if I post a few too many pictures and am a little too google-eyed over who was fishing with me. So here goes:
My daughter, son-in-law, and grand kids are here visiting from Iowa. Oh man, is it ever good to see them! I was on an instant high when my daughter Lisa asked “would you take us fishing Dad?”. Holy cow, I couldn’t hardly make arrangements fast enough.

We launched at the Willard Bay South marina at about 8:00 AM. The bugs weren’t bad at all (for a while). We started trolling westward just S-W of the island. We put out four lines ... two on planers and two straight back.

Instantly, Zack had his first wiper of the day. It was small but fun and came in on a silver/black rattle trap:

Some how, and I have NO clue how, we actually caught a little dang crappie trolling at 3.3 mph on a lure nearly half the size of itself clear out in the middle of the lake!

With Ashlyn’s help, Lisa brought in a decent wiper and a walleye on an Arrora Blue Pointer:

The closer we got to the light pole, the more action we had. Zack was letting out the line on one of the poles when he said “Hey, I think I got one!”. Sure enough, the silver/black Rapala Tail Dancer was on the bottom, going just slow enough while letting out, that he hooked this dandy 26 inch walleye:

Zack said that he was wondering why the line was going out a lot faster than the boat ... funny stuff. And of course, Ashlyn claimed credit for helping somehow:

After admiring how big and healthy this eye was, we put her back in the lake to swim another day.[/#002850]
[#002850][/#002850]
[#002850]Another thing that got a little more active out by the light pole was the bugs. Good thing I keep a few pieces of head lingerie in the boat at all times:

Now, here is where the REEL FUN starts ... Once again, out by the light pole, Ash’s rod hooks into another fish. Just for fun, I decide to let her take the reigns and see just what she could do with that wiper. Now, you all know that the big wipers are out in the deeper water so I was a little concerned that the rod might get pulled right out of her hands into the drink. So I kept a close eye on her but not once did I have to grab the rod! HOLY COW ... she worked that rod and reel like she had been trained by Jim Williams himself. This little 5-year old would pull in the rod, take up the slack, pull, take up slack, pull, take up slack ......... and not once complain of it being too hard. I was SO impressed and SO excited that I was cheering, yelling, and slapping my leg in astonishment!! I just can not explain what a kick I got out of watching that little toad land that monster wiper:

Man, you just can NOT understand how proud I am of my new-found fishing buddy:

We only fished for just a little over two hours and caught six fish ... 2 walleye, 3 wipers, and one crappie. Not too bad I must say.
The water temp was just under 80 degrees and warming fast. We caught fish on Pointers, Rattle-Traps, and Rapala Tail Dancers. Our trolling speed varied from 3.0 to 3.6 with best success around 3.3 (gps).
Well, here is just one last parting shot before I hit the sack and dream about my great day fishing with my champion little grand daughter and her great parents:
