Another fine evening of fishing at Willard. Launched out of the South marina around 5:30p.m. Trolled out to the southwest corner and headed north. Not a bite until we passed the lightpole. We went over a little spot there reading 16 feet deep? That was the deepest spot we found all night. The first wiper came from that hole.
After another 200 yards or so trolling along the west dike, we headed over to the feedlot and dropped the lines in again. From about 8:00 until 10:30 p.m. when we headed back to the marina the fishing was non-stop. We were trolling Producers in a custom pattern, around 3.2 mph on a north-south line. Water temp. was a chilly 83 for the majority of the evening. The bigger the waves got, the better the fishing got.
Caught a dozen or so wipers, and 6 REAL nice walleyes. We kept a few for dinner and sent the rest back.
I also saw a few boats in freeway bay that appeared to be chasing boils. I couldn't really tell if they were catching fish or not. The birds were diving tonight also.
I attached a pic of my vessel, if you see me trolling around Willard, stop by for a brew and a hello.
