Uncle from Fresno came to town last weekend and as luck would have it took me on a guided trip with him and his friend. We fished boils all morning with jerk baits and had a great time. The accuracy of the cast is paramount with these fish but if you get it in the right spot, the action is tremendous. Can't wait to get out there again. Most of our fishing was in the las vegas wash area and various coves in the area. Saw some nice largemouth but they were followers, not biters. Don't let this lake go dry, it's a great fishery in my opinion.

Was out at 33 hole and there were boils throughout the entire vegas wash area. That was wed evening around dusk. Not that many people out fishing. Most of the fish are small but always fun.

went out tuesday morning. shortly after sunrise the stripers were slurping out in the open water across from b4 b5 in about 130' water. shortly thereafter saw boils in the backs of coves in the vegas wash. just beware if someone else see's the boils you are fising, we had 6 boats at one time fishing one boil. it was a mess. pulled in several stipers mostly schoolies about 18''long. the guides were telling their folks to use crank baits and topwater baits. shad colored shallow diving crankbait worked well.

Short report from Monday 7-21.
Got a late start and launched about 10AM, as soon as we entered the Vegas wash we saw a large striper come out of the water and a few small slurps, casted a few times with no biters, we made our way all the to the end of the wash without seeing anything, water was really green and 87 degrees, as we were heading back out to Sand Island we came across a few fish boiling on shad, it turned into a 30 minute free for all with lots of small fish landed on the Rapala, and Chrome Kastmaster, nothing over 2 lbs but fun for a long midday boil. the fish went down as the wind came up, we found one more typical Mead boil that only lasted 3 minutes, but managed one 3 pounder on a white swimbait.
It was a fun day and we were off the lake by 3PM.
