I fished near the boat ramp after the dam and had tons of hits from shore. I took the kids crawdaddying and dropped a line in just for kicks. Unfortunately, between scooping up the little crawdads and chasing down little people, I didn't land anything, but the hits were consistent and solid.

We did manage to fill a 5 gallon bucket in about an hour and had a decent little crawdad boil.

We trolled on Saturday and it was fair. Got to the lake at 6am, nothing in the am. Started the pm fishing at about 5pm and it was better. The fish are deeper. We did ok in about 25 feet and close to shore. I'm not set up to troll deep water. We stopped and asked a tuber if he was ok in the bay (very windy day and was fighting the wind to get back) and he had some nice ones. Looked like he was using flies.

What part of the lake did you find the tuber?

I fished it last wed, the fishing was very slow over by renagade, in fact I never even got a bite!!! In four hours!!! but like an earlier post we fished from 6 am to noon so maybe the evening would be more productive.

My wife and I fished saturday from about 6:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m. started out fishing the bay where the Strawberry River enters & it was extremely good fishing for the first hour. I had a hard time keeping two poles in the water. It slowed down after 2 hours and we headed over to the meadows. We caught a few more over there. Ended up with 16 fish, most in the slot - the largest 21 inches.

Never did determine the hot bug, kept changing every 20 to 30 minutes. We were using down riggers and found the fish 25 to 40 feet deep.

There were 2 guys fishing in the meadows which appeared to casting white jigs w/worms and letting them set on the bottom (???) and he stated that they had caught over 20 fish - so maybe this is the better method? They did better than I did.

He was in Strawberry Bay. . I have been on a tube in the gale winds of the Berry before and I know it is quite a push back to sore. I just wanted to make sure he was good to go.

I went up to the berry this last weekend, Saturday evening I got on the water around 6.
The fishing was slow at first figuring out what to use, then the last hour or so it picked way up I caught 8 fish that night all cuts 6 of 8 were in the last hour of light. The next morning I got on the water at 5:15 and it started off with a bang I caught a dozen fish before a single person was even on the water at 6:15, by 6:30 the fishing slowed way down but was still pretty steady. As far as I know and by talking to people no one was catching much, if anything at all. Around 10 am my battery for my motor was running low due to fighting the winds the night before and forced me to leave, all in all I landed 28 fish 8 Saturday night and 20 on Sunday morning all cuts except 2 nice bows that I was surprised to catch. lots of action, lots of bits and I lost a few up near the boat also.
Considering other reports I rated the fishing to be rather good myself.
I will be up that way on thursday or friday night to do it all over again[Smile]
Good luck! let us know how you did.

Fished it Thursday from 8am to noon, boated 30 lost another dozen right at the boat. All but 2 where cutts. 3/4 were in the 19-21" range. Caught most on my secret cheese concoction, 2nd best was a pole with a plain old worm... slowest poles had powerbait. Fish were biting extremely light, several times I saw my high-vis line moving long before my rod showed any action and was able to set the hook before the fish dropped it.

I had planned to do some trolling but the bait fishing was too hot to stop LOL

Nice report, congrats on your success. Were you in an area that a tuber could get to?
