Well me and a neighbor kid hit willard on the fourth and had moderate success,9 wipers and 2 walleye's the third and the biggest walleye got of at the boat and would have been the big fish of the day at about 24 inches.one wiper was 20 inches,we trolled rattling rapala's in blue back, and green back #5's,the blue was the hot color catching most the fish and all three eye's.
My son and his girlfriend fished yesterday and also had moderate success in the narrows and the soldier creek side of the lake, ended up with 6 rainbows, all small 12-14 inches,5 cutts biggest around 24 inches, from what i saw yesterday the cutts arte still in the spawn mod and not eating much of anything right now,I will be going back up around the 24th. caught the cutts on a gold tube with gold/black metal flack in it.Rainbows where on a rapala's trolled slow.

]. Cutts still in the spawn[crazy]? That is strange, it seem to me they are usually done spawning by now in most year aren't they? Thanks for sharing your reports.

well they may have been in the past, but I visited a small stream that I have seen them spawn in before and there was hundreds of big cutts staging in the mouth and some that where up in it.me and the kids beached the boat and went and watched them for a bit, there where some cutts well over 26 inches getting ready to move up the river.so I dont think its over yet maybe by the 24th they will be done.
I will visit the same river.onthat date and report.
and yes,the walleye are doing well and some of the biggest walleye's I have seen ever at willard.

I always thought the cutt spawn was over around the middle of June but I just looked at the fishing guide and it says certain tribs are closed until the the second week in July, I'm sure the late spring has something to do with it too[:/]. Either way, I bet it was cool seeing those big old fish up there spawning[

Yes,it always cool to see the big spawners up close, they would spook off if you moved but they would come right back in after a few minutes. We did not try to bother them and I told the kids that the river was probably still closed so we couldn't fish it,but we did fish out in the lake in the channel and had a few hit the jigs, but they where quickly released, and I think they where already spawned out they where dry,and they hit so they where trying to recover probably.[fishin]

No,I didn't spend to much time out in the channel,I'd look around the dam,and then start trolling towards the mouth of the narrows.
The gentelmen at the solider creek marina may be able to give you a better chance for the kokes.
A friend of mine has gotten into them 40ft down trolling a green wedding ring with a peice of nightcrawler.down around the dam.I'll see if I can get some more info and PM you
