Up to 6' long and over 200 pounds. These big trout are really suffering, but conservation efforts AND catch and release fishing are helping to save them in the beautiful Eg River in Mongolia, a fly fisher's exotic paradise.

This great little video (linked below) highlights this rare species, the Taimen, and describes the many benefits of fishing to help prevent them from extinction.

Now that is a big troutski! It would cost a pretty penny to go all the way over there to fish for them.

Oh, that pic is not one of the 200 pounders, its from the video and I think it was 4 feet or so. The pic was with one of those lenses that accentuates what's in front so it looks bigger than it is, but still a huge trout.

I say put them in the Green below FG. That would teach those trout to swim fast to escape. Certainly would weed out all the slugs and improve the gene pool of the existing trout. And can you imagine hooking one of those beast on a 5 wt.

What a fisherman's dream! Once you've hooked one you wanna hook em all, and this one is definitely on my list, that is, once we conquer the communists and you can get your license for a Taiman at Wal-mart.
