Planned a trip to yuba today for some perch for a perch fry on sunday. We did not limit out on perch because the pike were hungry today.Hit my perch hole and immediatly started catching perch first the small ones showed up so we threw them back and moved to deeper water.It looked good for a bit there non stop perch action we kept the 12 inchers and the smaller ones went back.Every so often we would get our lines cut or get perch with slash marks on them so we knew the pike were there. Plus the fishing would come to a stand still.So i brought out my pike lures and it was on!! First pike was about 27 inches not as big as the ones that have been caught but still good fighting fish.After that one was caught and released the perch action resumed a little while later. Then the perch stopped biting again .I threw out my lure and had lisa throw one out to and we both caught pike from 21 to 24 inches.They both got released. The perch action got really slow after that and it was hit and miss.So i began pike fishing again .Caught 3 more average size pike between 21-24 inches .I keep thinking it was the same ones we caught before but i figured they would move since being caught.We had a short day left about 1230 with 15 perch.It was fun getting those pike but i was after perch today so they became a nuisance.Plus they have that y-bone that is a pain to fillet around since i dont have much practice filleting pike.[:p] Gonna head out there tomorrow morning to get me some more perch .

how was the power squd out there today?

tommy wants to make a trip out there pike fishing i was thinking tomorow might not be all that good if there is a lot of boats.. but sounds like you did ok!

Yes the boats were out there today in full force but they did stay away from were i was. I was anchored up and we did get a lot of wave action but it helped with my 2nd pole it jigged it for me.[:p]

you did better than my boy and I. We just got one small northern and a couple of perch. My boy did nail a couple of carp on jigs. The depth finder was loaded with fish but I think most were carp.

My depth finder was the same but i think it was mostly perch were i was the carp seemed to be closer to shore. The schools would be right under the boat then they would disappear.Thats when the pike showed up. Carp are fun to catch we tried catching one for bait but no luck so we used perch meat as bait.
