[#002850]I'm a little late posting this report. Since it's just another cookie-cutter Strawberry report, I wasn't going to post but since I have a question for you all, I decided to go ahead and bore you all.
Bait_Caster and I decided to fish the Berry on Friday. We arrived at the marina at about 5:45 AM to a frosty 37 degrees outside with frost on the boat's windshield.
We launched and fished a few spots a mile or so north of the marina. BC caught 6 fish long casting his white tube jig tipped with chub. I only caught one that way and the rest of our fish, in that hole, came in on the vertical jig. We each landed about 9-10 fish before it dried up.
After the bite in that area dried up, we tried a few spots in the Ladders with no luck at all. So we decided to try a bay over on the south end of the lake. About 2:00, the bite started again. There in that bay we did pretty good too landing another 8-9 fish each.
By the end of the day we had landed 36 fish between the two of us. Not stellar but still great.
I used a glow tube all day long and BC used a pearl white/pink one all day. Didn't seem to make much difference which color we used.
Now, for the question: Since BC did well long casting and retrieving his tube jig, do you think a curly-tail grub would work even better? I can't help but think that the grub's tail would be a bit more attractive than a tube jig being pulled straight through the water. I wish I would have thought about it while I was up there. Guess I will just have to go back and give it a try.[/#002850]
