We fished Carter Lake for the past two weeks and have been catching a lot of walleye. We jigged live worms right off the bottom in about 12 ft of water and have been catching a lot of walleye. Most of them were not keeping size but they are fun to catch. We have caught a couple that have been good size but we released them. We usually fish for about 7 hours but the bite is big when the sun starts to go down, but when it gets dark the bite stops again.

Been itching to get up there but time keeps getting away from me. Sounds like your getting dialed in on them. Have you trolled for them at night. I have heard of 15 and 17lbs'ers caught out there. You can only keep one walleye in 16"-18" range right? (The length may be off might be 18"-20" range)

I have not trolled at night for them we always jig for them. They have to be between 16 - 20 inches to keep and yes you can only keep one.

I never do very well trolling for walleye. I have always done better jigging myself. I know guys that kick butt trolling for them but I must not have that lucky lure. Did you catch any without tipping your jigging with crawler. Good chance the restricted limit is what makes it so good. Keeping one walleye dont even stink up the pan.

Wallie divers work the best and I love Rapalas but not as good. Deep divers, deepest you can get. Chartruse is best color to me and my wifes is perch color or fire tiger. Try bottom bouncing at night, cover more water. Some times deep off points, found that bigger ones are usually deeper for some reason.

No we did not even try jigging without the worms. Yes the restricted limit the lake should produce some big walleye and keep the population high.

It all makes sense. I will try that advice the next time out. Wallie divers are one of my favorite lure. I catch all types of fish on them from trout to stripers on them.(even catfish) Thanks
