[cool][#0000ff]TubeBabe and I planned to hit Jordanelle today, but one of our Fishing 101 students begged for a tubing trip on Willard. She had problems and could not make it so since we were already ready we hit it anyway.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Launched at 6:15 AM. Calm, water temp 76. Some small shadlets rippling around the edge in the marina but nothing bothering them.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Started firing a new model blue back prism diving crankbait as soon as we got outside the marina. Threw it onto a shallow hump and POW ZING. Fish on. It was throwing water with its tail, the water was so shallow. Wondered if it was a carp. Nope. Nice 19 inch wiper. Only 6:30. Figured it was going to be a bananner day. Figured wrong. First and last wiper within fifteen minutes of launch. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Of course the kitties wanted to play. We both caught a grundle and a half on minnows. I also caught a few on cranks...including a new blue back prism lipless model. No big kitties. Largest maybe one of the 18 inchers I got on a bobber head jig, 4 feet under a bobber in 8 feet of water.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Water was glass most of the morning. A light breeze a couple of times but right back to glass. A bit of haze (thanks California) and a few small clouds. Snow totally gone from the mountains.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Quite a few boats going out and several bank tanglers in a couple of different spots. Didn't see anybody else catch anything and when we went in we were the only ones at the fish cleaning station. Didn't look like it had been used at all by the time we got there about 1. We had the one wiper and a few kitties for the table. Looks like it is still slow from the weekend. Oh yeah, the water temp was up to 80.4 when we came back in.[/#0000ff]

Great report! Sorry it wasn't faster on the wipers.

Looks like it was a great day TD despite the lack of wiper action. Your red hooked Cookie. I think I tossed him/her back on Sunday, that mug sure looks familiar to me.

[cool][#0000ff]Them little buggers all have big families...and they all look alike. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Now, that is not being politically incorrect is it?[/#0000ff]

Nope

Great report Pat.

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Sorry I did not hook the biggun who stole your lure.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, I am working on some color combos like you wanted. They are what worked best today. Got some more blanks ordered.[/#0000ff]

That lure and color I have a hard time finding, its a deep deep diver and short and fat.

[cool][#0000ff]You...or the lure?[/#0000ff]
[signature]
Both

[cool][#0000ff]If you can link or show me a sample...with dimensions...and colors...I may be able to help. I just made some fat deep divers from some blanks I got at Janns.[/#0000ff]

TD, I was wondering if you could send me some info on the deep divers you are making. I would be interested in learning how to make them, I am sick of paying $15 each for Lucky Craft. It adds up when I loose two or three in one day! Thanks

[cool][#0000ff]I will be glad to provide links, pics and even have you over for some one on one show and tell. But, there is no way to duplicate the colors and the action of the LC lures. They are the epitome of lures...and the price reflects that.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]However, Janns Netcraft, Barlows and several other online purveyors of tacklecraft goodies do sell several different kinds and sizes of unpainted blanks that you can custom decorate and add split rings and hooks to...and (for me) they work well.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Below are some pics of the divers I use. Easy to finish and only a little over a buck a blank. Good action and dive to 6 to 8 feet cast and retrieve...up to 10 feet on a troll with longline.[/#0000ff]

Man them last photo's are assume my friend, that takes talent to get them fish scales on there?Do you put a clear coat to finish them off?

[cool][#0000ff]I assume your reply was directed at me.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In addition to buying unpainted blanks, I also buy some of the prepainted blanks...without hooks. They come in several great colors, including the nice fish scale patterns. However, I often add glitters or prism tape to the sides for extra flash.[/#0000ff]
