Wow with work and concentrating more on the boat thing as of late, it's been a while since I posted a tubing report.
So here ya go.
Went down to San Diego's Lake Barrett a semi private lake. I packed the tube on the rental boat and used the boat to taxi me around. No blade fish today and had quite a few blow ups on the Deps frog, only one stuck, however it was fun to see. One of the blow ups was a nice 3 to 4# fish that came completly out of the water, looked like one of those Great Whites going airborn slamming a seal. Slowed down and switched to plastics pitching the grass and tullies and ended the day with around 16. Only 2 rats today the rest where in the 2# range and my big fish of the day at 4.3#.

Tight lines, AT

[cool][#0000ff]Good stuff. Don'tcha love it when those fish blow up on surface lures on the green mats? No need to even hook them to get the thrill.[/#0000ff]

Thanks TD It's such a long time since I posted, I forgot how to upload the pics [Wink]. Your right, top water is a blast even if you don't always hook'em.

Nice fish!! Glad to see that you were able to get back out there and lip some! I've heard a lot about Barrett but haven't fished that lake as of yet. Most of the guys who fish the Otay Lakes tell me that it is a great place to fish. I've been hitting Upper Otay at least twice a week now for several months and the bass there are really starting to get active and the top water bite is picking up. Nothing like having a lunker explode on a top water lure. I threw my frogs a few weeks ago with no strikes at all but am going to start throwing them again at least for the first hour this Saturday. All the bass I've been catching have been on Watermelon colored Senkos and I find that they will hit those almost any time of the day.

Again, nice trip report and nice fish you caught!!

Bassmamatic, you should keep that frog tied on one of your rods all day, some of my best days fishing a frog have been mid day, when the bass are often times buried in and/or under the grass mats or in the tullies. It's been years since I've fished the Otays, glad to hear they're still kicking out some.
