OK, first post, so plz bear with me. I'm new to Utah fishing, and have already gotten great advice from The_Fish_Slayer and Love2grabbass. Thanks for the help so far guys, I credit the few fish I've landed to you two. Thanks FS for getting me that Ugly Stik and basically telling me to shut up and fish.[Wink]

I do my fishing from shore, as the only boats I've got are the size 11s on my feet, and I prefer to keep those dry if I can, at least until I DO get a boat and start launching that. I think I'll sacrifice putting wheels and tires on my wife's car and buy a jonboat or something similar in the near future. I'm sure she won't mind....

No luck at Pineview, but I've caught a few LMB at Mantua. I'm not particular to what I catch, as long as it's not cats. Used to catch bullheads all the time as a kid growing up in Minnesota, so I've had enough of those. Anything else is pretty much fair game. Looking forward to learning different techniques for different species.

I'll keep posting, and keep reading and learning. Most importantly, I'll KEEP FISHING!!!

Well, welcome to the board.
first, channel cats are not bullhead. I was raised in upstate NY. the biggest bullhead I ever caught fought almost as good as the smallest channel cat I have ever caught.
Sounds like your near Ogden, so I would say check Causey. Above Mantua there is Hyrum and Newton.
Of those Causey has nice trout, Hyrum can too. Newton has bass, crappie and cats.

You can buy a fishing tube for about the cost of a single good tire, that will get you offshore, not break the bank and you can still buy the wife tires. Wheels? is there something wrong with the factory wheels? if not, take the $ you were going to spend on them and get the tube and 4 new stickers for the wifes car.
Watch KSL.com for tubes on the cheap.
Good luck, and welcome. Let us know where you go and how you do.

Hiya!

I'm a bank tangler, too! If you want to have some company some time, just shoot me a PM...preferably with 24 hour notice, since my job is "on call".
