I remember reading somewhere that bass fishing was best in the summer time. I have never fished for bass and have no idea how to do it. I have heard that jordanelle is a good place to fish for bass...but I really dislike that place. Do any of you have any suggestions for a newbie like me trying to learn bass fishing? Maybe where to go (besides Jordanelle).....and what kind of things I may catch them off (spinners?)? I really am clueless....

I might post this on the fly fishing forum as well, just to see if I should fly fish it or use a bait rod. Thanks.
With what you say, I don't think I can help you...

Jordanelle IS world class SM bass fishing lake the best place to catch big smallies (and a few smaller ones)...

Now why don't you like the Nell???

Boat or Shore fishing?
I have always thought that LMB fishing is more fun than SMB fishing but ill get a lot of people who disagree Wink
My personal oppinion would be that Good LMB waters are places like Mantua, Utah lake and Pelican unless you wanna go south and Quail Sand Hollow and Powell are nice too. (in no particualr order)

SMB fishing is probably best at The Gorge and Jordanelle. With Jordanelle being the clear winner.

good luck!

If Jordanelle is the place to go, then I will go there. What I dislike about it is all the boats and water skiiers while i'm fishing......but if this doesn't affect fishing (bass fishing) as much as I thought, then i'm all game!

I heard bass are waaaay fun to catch and summertime is the best time to catch them. I'm even willing to meet anyone up at any of the lakes so you can teach me Wink hehehe...thanks guys.

Shore fishing always. I'm not good enough money-wise to own a boat yet.... I could probably purchase a float tube if it will help........

Another good way to learn about bass fishing is to join a club. There are many good clubs in the SLC area and not all are focused on tournaments. It is a good way to learn ropes and fish different waters. There are clubs affiliated with both BASS and FLW. Check their websites and you should be able to make contact.
