Went to Millcreek today with my son, at a area suggested by Flygoddess. Turns out to be a great spot. The pool was full of people wading so my son and I moved further west upstream. There was a trail that led through a picnic area. I sent my son ahead to scope out the area. He said there was lot of holes along the trail. So my son hit our first one and got a nice little brookie on a caddis, and then I switched to a #14 Royal Wulff with a WD-40 as a dropper. It worked wonderfully! I hit two more within 30 minutes.

You are so right about the weekends...that place is packed. I'm anxious to get back there soon I have some caddis that need testing.

I went up tonight for a few minutes...NO ONE was there. It was perfect. Found a couple of nice pools and I could see the fish scampering everywhere.
I was using a #22 Olive Cripple of sorts with a Black WD40 with NO bead.
Caught about 10 anywhere from 4" to 11". Perfect end to a day.

Sweet! It sounds like that place is going to become a great after work fishing hole. Today turned out to be a nice day. I might be able to hit it this wednesday. Do you roll your own flies?

i've been fly fishing for about maybe 20hr total and i want to get some more time in but i need a biggers place. Do you know of any places i can hit?

I don't know about GURU, just lucky and I have put allot of time in learning the waters. Provo use to kick my A$$ on a regular basis.
I started looking more at the bugs, even the grill of my car and take it fro there.
Provo I will say, early and late in the day, but I have had good luck all day up there.
Millcreek is not BIGGER waters by any means, in fact a rod longer than 7' can be trouble. I bought a W.W.Griggs 6' 3 wt. for up there that is just about right.
Like the Provo, they are much better fishing during the week days. Can be combat fishing on the weekends.
At this point, I would like to say, there is rivers and streams all over the valley....try them, you might be surprised.

Sweet and I actually met to say a beginners place I’ve only fished the community-ponds like Willow and did ok on it now that have part of my casting down.

Then I am going to say UINTA's That is a blast, and the fish are so fresh and pretty, not beat up like Willow.
Tiger Trout, Albino, Grayling, Brookies, Rainbow, and in the higher lakes a Golden or two.
Ant patterns are killer anytime up there.

Where do you go to fish Mill Creek? I'm trying to find some closer alternatives to fish when I'm short on time. The community fishing ponds seem to be fizzling out with this heat. Just about the only thing that will take a fly there are the little bitty bluegills.

Lower down there is more open area to fish on Mill Creek so try that. Can't remember the names. But I'd start about 2 miles below The Elbow ( or what ever it's called) If you don't have luck in the first half mile just move up past the elbow and hit the little areas with open water up above. Sunday afternoon nobody was fishing the big pool or the next half mile above so it's not always crowded even on weekends. Don't bring any rod over 7 ft if you're going to try it.

[#008000]Those 6' Griggs are nice little rods ! They are also surprisingly pretty tuff and withstand a fair amount of abuse.[/#008000]

[#008000]I used to use a 7' 3 wt. Reddington on places like that. But then a few years ago, I picked up one of those Griggs and have since been using it quite a lot - I love it in close quarters for the easy handling. And, when I got mine, it was super inexpensive - like 20-30 dollars. Since those kind of places do not require much in the way of casting, I can also use an inexpensive line on it.[/#008000]

I have that same 6' 3wt. Griggs, which actually does better with a 4wt line as you said "STIFF".
But that is Graphite....this is Fiberglass, and it is sweet!

I am using a Select Trout II WF. I love that line, but not as much as the RIDGELINE.
I am NOT a DT person. It just doesn't work for me. Maybe cause a couple of my rods have the smaller guides and there is more diameter to a DT.
