I'm not sure how many chubs there are there, but if there are alot i think the fastest way to get a bunch is just to throw a tiny piece of worm on a 12 hook and just catch them that way. I've implied this method at Otter Creek many times for that very reason, and i usually get about ten or so in the first 20 minutes of doing it. I don't know much about minnow traps, but i think i need to learn how to do that for redsides and little chubs.

Dried dog food works great. Ok to purchase the cheap no-name brand -- the minnows don't mind. Don't bother with dried cat food, it is too small and falls through the trap. You can also use wadded up hamburger and hot dog buns and bagels, but dog food will work great all by itself.

i have never had much luck at JV traping chub'a in a trap.. a throw net works better there.. but i suck at the throw net. so i take my boy's up with me and put a size 12 hook on there lines and a worm and thay will catch all i need.. well i give them .05 $ each to them so they will keep fishing for them.. lol

i find that fish meat like carp or sucker works better than bread or dog food, especially if its fresh. if you use a bait that floats, i suggest putting it in a container with a bunch of holes in it, otherwise the minnows can get their food through the mesh of the trap, doing this really helped me out.

Good idea putting it in a container.
