Took my wife and a friend to Jordanelle this morning to see what kind of action we could get with the smallies with a full moon. We got on the water around 6:00 am and started kickin. The water temp was 73 degrees and has dropped a couple of feet. Between the three of us we caught 40 SMB's and a couple of trout in a 5 hour period. The smallies ranged between 4'' & 18" and were caught in 10 feet of water around structure. There were quite a few tubers and boats in and out all day long, and it seems like everyone was doing pretty well. All fish were released[Smile] Can't wait to go again!!!!!

I fished that same structure a couple of weeks ago and caught some nice fish. A couple of decent LMB even.

[cool]Nice report, Burt. Looks like the smallies are biting well in the Rock Cliff arm out from the ramp. Are the perch in that area yet?

You are lucky that you have a wife that likes fishing and going out to the pond with you. Those kind are rare, so enjoy that, dude. The long distance girlfriend that I have right now says she really wants to learn, and will even go ice fishing with me. We will see if that's really true...but, if so, then she might be a keeper. I plan to test her desire to learn to fish soon, lol.

Oh man I've stepped up in the world, and now I'm into small trees and logs!! You should have seen the beast I hooked into early in the morning. It had to measure at least 60", but I'll never know because I couldn't stretch my tape out to exactly measure. I guess my family will have to wait for fish "sticks" another day[:p]We should definitely hook up sometime with & do some fishin. We'll talk[Smile]

Yes, there were perch in the shallower water mainly around weed stucture, however we didn't get a chance to get into them. That's cool that your girlfriend is willing to go out with you & learn, even on the ice! We usually head out ice fishing with our two kids & they absolutely love it! Maybe we should do a fishing trip somewhere with a bunch of BFT'ers & their wives. It would be a good chance for everyone to meet & get to know each other.

Should? Last year it was called the Perchathon and was at Yuba.

Thanks for the info[Smile] I was thinking about something in the future. Possibly for some of us that weren't able to attend.

Hey good job on the smallies wish they got that big in the lakes I fish oh well. Are there a lot of LMB's in jordanelle or is there mostly smallies?

I'm not real sure about the LMB population there, but I do know they are in there, and I have yet to hook into one[frown]
2fishon got a few good ones there a couple weeks ago.
I do know the SMB population is very healthy there, and is regarded as one of the best SMB fisheries in the state. What lakes are you fishing?

you have my toon in your garage, and it would go great with my waders which i just give *^%*^%^&$% up ever seeing again, along with the rest of my fly stuff, that you could float jordanelle with. would save gas and get you in shape.

Southern utah reservoirs like Newcastle, minersville, and enterprise but they are mostly just small ones without very much size.

[cool]That would be cool, but I've gotta get a couple of pontoons (or at least one more float tube) first. Good luck next trip out there.

Gotcha! If you are ever up this way give me a shout[Smile]

Sam's Club has some nice toons for around $400 & less. You can check them out online. A couple of my friends have the Colorado, and it is pretty sweet for the money. I would like to upgrade, but I'll have to stick with my 6' orange "bass boat" for now[:p] Good luck to you as well on your next outing.
