Never had one of those. The only knot tying tool I have ever had is the other one you displayed a while back.

.......

Now I do recall some who watched me tie a knot tell me I was a "Real Tool" - What a strange compliment.

I mostly use the Trilene knot. I have always tied it with my hands.[cool]

I know very few people that still use a nail knot to attach leaders to fly lines. Most people us a loop to loop connection.Whip a loop in your fly line and tie another in your leader. When you're done follow these simple instruction on how to connect them.

This way to can change out your leader with cutting away any of your fly line.

[#008000][Image: happy.gif]I prefer to use an 18" piece of heavy mono as a shock leader which is permanently attached to my fly line with a nail knot and a loop on the other end to do a loop to loop with my leader.[/#008000]

your not that old this way is still commonly used

Have two of those now for many years. Had given one of them to my Dad, but he stopped fishing a while back, and gave his back to me.

Don't use it when fly fishing, but do use it when fishing other types of methods.

I find it practical since in cold weather my "old" fingers, and my eye sight (even with glasses on) make it hard to get that line looped into the hole(s).
