Well, well, well where to start Anglerdan and I thought we would slaughter the eyes last night but it was real dissapointing. We started with bottom bouncers with a worm harness and various plastics and picked up one walleye about 18" and a few smallmouth. After it got dark we went till about 2am with nigh a bite so my question is Helppppppppppppppp. I tried jigs, cranks, worms and anything else that I had in the box with no success. After dark at DC what baits and tactics should have I tried?

I was there the night before from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Boated 15 walleye. I think the night bite has slowed now that it is no longer a full moon. We boated 5 fish after dark in 12-18 ft. Roadrunner jig head with worm was the best. all the fish before dark were caught bottom bouncing in same depth. Best bite was at 5:30 right when i got on the water, but slowed once the wind quit blowing. Hope this helps. Caught a lot of nice perch as well.

Boy, 15 walleye sounds like a great evening out. Do they close the marina at DC? I had a buddy say the marina closes at 10PM, made me wonder how they could do that. Obviously you would have to get your boat out but do they just gate off the incoming lane past the booth area? I love walleye fishing and was thinking about heading out there tomorrow or Sunday night.

I would think that (like most parks, depending on staffing) they will close the gate going in after 10pm but I'm sure there would be some legal issues if you couldn't get out. I hardly ever fish DC but I imagine as long as you are in before 10pm you can still get out after 10pm.

That's what I figured, I was more afraid of getting a ticket if you're supposed to be out by a certain time.

Don't worry about tickets at DC. As long as you don't park on the beach and pay your entrance you should be fine.
