Fished this morning from 6:15 am til about 10:30 am, had two bites and that was it! Saw several boats catching fish however. After chatting with Aluma165 on the ramp-I figured out it doesn't work very well without downriggers! Thank you Aluma for taking the time to talk and show me your set up, downriggers and a new depthfinder are on the short list! Hope to see you again on the water! BTW-heading to Strike again next weekend, will give you an update on those trout.........

Very nice to meet you idduckhntr! It was slow this morning for us. 4 typical 14 to 15"ers and the bite, as you know, was dead by 8:30 am.
The one female was full of roe and starting to turn; it was a pale shade of pink. The largest male had his lower jaw starting to hook with those big teeth starting to show.
Beautiful morning on the lake; I saw only 2 other boats land a fish each and one was a small rainbow in shallow water off one of the slides. Surface temp was 65- 67 degrees so DR's are a must right now. Fish all came from 22 to 28 feet. Numerous fish on the finder and many would come up or go down to the ball level and take a look but not a lot of action. Four hits and four fish. No other takedowns.[

You can see fish come up and go down on your fishfinder ? I guess I do need a new one !.....I bought new downriggers with this years fishing budget and almost had enough left to fill the boat up with gas [
] .My brother is coming to Boise this weekend and we are gonna hit LP Monday morning. Were they kinda across from Spring Shores and up in the narrows.....or up by the dam maybe ?

Hey Riverrunner,
The fish seem to be congregating near the point across from the main ramp and across to the entrance of Mores Creek, at least earlier this week. I will be up there Monday as well, so look for the Hewescraft with blue trim, and two Yamahas, one 75 and an 8 kicker. Maybe between the two of us we can figure it out!! Soaking the shoepeg with Pautzkes Nectar has sure been helping the catch rate. Hope to see you up there. Mike

I'll try and make it up on Monday as well. Headed up to Redfish but we've postponed until Wednesday now. I saw plenty of boats across from Spring Shores along the slide but didn't see a lot of action. Most of those boats were flatlining...

Regarding fish moving on sonar, you will see a thin line of bubbles or a streak of red clearly move toward your ball traces. Last year this was an impending strike as they found your lure but this last trip they just took a look. We also pulled right through large arches of fish at anywhere from 15 to 30 feet but our takedowns usuallay came at other times; like out of the blue with no immediate indication of fish concentrations. Last year was almost too easy...
I've got it fairly well pinned down as to how long it takes the lure to reach the arch on the graph depending on the setback. (I'm currently using shorter setbacks of less than 30 feet)

I fished Lucky Peak on Sat the 26th for smallmouth from 6am to 1pm. I caught a few 1 to 2 lbs but definitely slow. I saw hundreds of fry from half inch to two inches in length and the bass that I caught were spitting them up. That could explain why they weren't biting. They obviously were gorging themselves with them.
On another note I had a wakeboarder boat coming towards me and turned right in front of me while I was doing about 45 MPH. Before I could slow down I hit his wake and launched my boat and when I hit the water it broke the head completely off my Minn Kota trolling motor. Of course he was gone before I could get going again. So now I have to replace my trolling motor. 1200 dollars for a new one. I hope my insurance will cover it. So be careful out there and watch out for these jerks.
