[#004080] [crazy] I want to run a second sonar on my transom while running a more powerful one on the center console. Is there a way to run both on the same frequency or do I have to run them on seperate frequencies?[/#004080]

You have to run separate frequencies

Ideally you want to seperate the frequencies by 50 khz. Most transducers these days are either 200 or 50 khz. 200 is good for depths less than 300' with great detail, 50 khz not so great shallow detail but good depth detail. You can run two finders off one transducer with the right switch if that will help.

Only higher frequencys above 180khz see fish, lower frequencys are for getting a reading on the ground. My new 8k watt Huminbird uses a 455khz signal.

455 khz? You must have one of those fancy side-finders. Does it use 200 khz to look down?

[cool][#0000bf] Thanks for all the advice...too bad you can't run two high frequency units at the same time. Guess I'll run the rear one on 50 just for depth.[:/][/#0000bf]

Its the simple 3d model they sell. It has 6 beams downward it reads from and then shows the bottom in 3d. It doesnt have side view. It works well and as advertised but its not as cool as I thought it would be overall... /shrug. It is really cool to find channels and whatnot though.
