[cool][#0000ff]TubeBabe and I met up with LloydE at Rock Cliff this morning. Object: a perch search. Not too many showing up in the counts yet. Figured it was about time to find some.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We were all launched by about 6:30 AM. Air temp 58, water temp 70. Light east breeze...as per usual. Each went different directions, each throwing something different...spinners, jigs and Rapalas.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I caught the first three fish fairly quickly...a small perch followed by a couple of small smallies. Watched the sonar as I moved from shallow to deep and back again. No signs of schooling perch, but the smallmouths would not leave my lures alone long enough for the perch to find them. My pale perch colored jigs seemed to be highly appealing to them today.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Lloyd started out in deeper water and moved back to shallower water after an hour with no bites. He finally got a fish or two and a bunch more hits.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]TubeBabe had the hot stick today. She was slow to get started...with only one small smallmouth by about 9:30. But, then she started whackin' the larger smallies. Got one over 15 inches, to beat my best at about 14 inches. Then she hooked a toad. Really beat her up on her light tackle. Zing went her string and she was lovin' it. 18.5 inches...big fish of the day. Smooch and release. TubeBabe must have thought that her birthday last Saturday entitles her to top rod status for a month...or something. Good on her.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]About 10:30, two predictable things happened. The westerly breezes started picking up and the truckload of canoes and kids showed up to increase the noise level a few decibels. Once they hit the water whatever action there has been usually shuts down. It did. We left.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My score for the day? About 20 - 25 smallies and about 6 or 7 small perch...none over 8 inches. I did lose two LARGE perch at the tube. One would have easily been 13 inches...and a fatty. But, never did find any concentrations of perch. TubeBabe saw a lot of them in the weeds, where the little perch fry were hiding, but the larger perch were full up and only moved slowly to look at a jig and then dropped back down.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]All in all a pretty day with little or no wind...and slow fishing. But, TubeBabe had some enjoys so I guess I have some y credits for a couple of days.[/#0000ff]
