Anyone fishing this weekend? I'll probably head up the McKenzie River on Saturday. Opening weekend on the river wasn't that hot, so we went up to Blue River Reservoir.
Caught several nice sized fish that day, one 13 1/2".

Fishing on the Cashie River today. Water was a little high but the day was hot and sunny. The panfish have not got on the shore line yet in good numbers. I used a fishing pole and a mini-jig fished 3 foot deep around the tree tops in the water. A lot of little bream and a few little crappies where biting. Also took a drive to the Roanoke river to do some bank fishing. The water was 12 foot over the bank so fishing was out. There is a lot of water in the rivers around here. Hopefully the rivers will drop in the next few weeks.

hi bud , yes i've gone sat . and am going sun. as well . i'm after steelhead but keep hauling in redhorse suckers . last weekend i landed a 33 3/4 sucker , a master anglers award would have been mine to have , but another guy dumped it back in the river on me , total bummer !
i'm using a 10 1/2' noodle with 4lb. test putting my skills to the test . i do pretty good while these brutes ( steelies ) are shaking there heads and making there runs , but when they jump for the sky , well there goes the fly !
i'm going to follow dave's lead and take the sprey rod out for some sucker fun after the a.m. steel run .
the suckers are o.k. , there pretty darn good as a snack after there done in the smoker .
i have a great spot for the suckers , it's a walk thru some tangels and i'm kinda sharing the spot with a black bear . he fishes the other side of the river , i wish i had taken the camera with me , what a perfect photo oppurtinity i had today !

Fishing this weekend was slow on the McKenzie River, but myself and two others managed to catch about 10 fish total (several were under 8").
The water level is lower than it was on opening weekend and the river's been stocked below the dam, so fishing should start to pick up.
The fish preferred worms and eggs over all the lures I tried, which I find to be the case most of the time on that stretch of river.
Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

holey schnike ! what a day ! i fished in a gale ! winds 40 mph, rain , spray off the water in my face , waves breaking over the top of the dam , and a raging river at my feet ! you can't get this kind of fun at disneyland .
and i got skunked too !
there were a few die hards out there , last of the weekend warriers as i call them . all the fair weather wanna bee's were out of the picture completely . the river was ours for the pickins ! i could see dozens of em' everywhere , they just wern't having anything of what i had , 4 dozen spawn and some of my best flies are on the bottom of that river , hours of tying gone within minuets . still all in all it was worth it .
i helped a guy ( mike ) land his trophy fish , a definate wall mount 12 lb. 2 oz.hen . he let his boy land a few too , all in the 10 lb. range . mike knows his steelhead fishing ! he's the only one of the 7 people i saw today that landed fish , he did it one after another too , no sweat !
thanks for dinner mike , your one of a kind ! ( a reward for helping him land the big one ) hope to see you on the boards soon .
