Not many fishermen on the water, but plenty of skiiers last weekend. Luckily the koke fishing was hot, when the temps were cool and the boaters were still asleep.

Fishing was good both Friday and Saturday morning. We boated 9 kokes before 9am each morning and trolled another hour or so to pick-up some lakers, before leaving the lake to the recreationists. The kokes were hanging from 45-65ft near Jarvies canyon. They preferred the RMT Dodger in Hyperplaid followed by a hot pink squid. We also caught a few on pink Kok-a-nuts and Needlefish in pearl/red. Some of the kokes were up around 2.5lbs. Boat speed was about 2.2mph and water temps are up around 70F.

Laker pups were graphed and caught near steep walls and points in 65-75ft of water. We did best with a Williams spoon in rainbow trout running around 1.8mph.

Thanks for the report Ryno, you sure have the koke fishing down but how about the macks? What is the largest mack you have caught while trolling?

The biggest mack I've hooked and landed on the Gorge is around 8lbs, and that happened to be by trolling a #3 Needlefish Flour. Green Hot tiger last November. I've never been very successful at big fish, probably because I don't put in enough time/effort. Some of the guys here on the board are really successful at finding them though. If I get one it will be either out of luck or because I set it as a goal and forced myself to not fish for species with a high catch rate!

Thats better than I have done, I think the largest mack I have caught trolling is four or five lbs[:/]. It is one of those skills I would like to learn to do better. Some of the guys are down on trolling for macks, saying it is the lazy way to fish but that is what it is all about in my opinion[]. When I go fishing I don't want to be all tensed up and have to concentrate on the catching, I want to kick back and take it easy. That is why trolling is my favorite way to fish[].
