Camped at trial lake in the uintas last week before the big 24th of July came so i could miss the crowds.

Fishing was VERY slow, and I fished from shore some but mostly from a raft. In about 5 hours total of fishing I caught about half a dozen fish. A few of those were teeny tiny planters on the fly. The 3 bigger trout came on a kastmaster, rapala, and a tasmanian devil in that order.

I saw a few other fish taken but that was it. It was bad for everybody. I row trolled with popgear and worms, rapalas, kastmasters, spinners, etc. I cast flies whenever I saw some surfacing. I even did the powerbait thing. Just didn't happen for anyone.

From what I can see, it is swarming with tiny 4 to 6 inch planters and very few larger trout. When the larger trout did come around, they were wholly uninterested with any presentation or lure/bait offered.

I'm not worried. I have Payson lakes and Huntington next week, and Fiji fishing come August 9th - 18th! Plenty of opportunities to redeem myself.

I am heading up that way this weekend. Did you try any of the other lakes right around there like Lost, Lily, or Washington?

I am disappointed that is the best that was available, but maybe it will be better this week. I have had good success in the past with a Jake's lure, Blue fox, & a traditional Mepps.

I know that most of the fish in there are planters anyway, but it sure is nice to get a little bit bigger one occasionally. Thanks for the report.

We had tremendous luck off the dam with wooly buggers and nightcrawlers under a bobber about 4'.[Wink]
