I'm planning to make a trip to Twin Lakes with the Sparkinator in a short while and will be targeting LM. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to fish from a tube on the Lake?

have not been out there for a little while but as of the last time we hit them up well over on the other end of the camp grounds you know where where the great old twin lakes can. company blocked it off to drive over the dam anyways make it over there by the other side on the far left next to the island we hit it good using different types of jigs, tubes, rattle traps, and so forth. blue g was hitting well with crawlers just to small to even think about keeping don't know much else that is all we have used good luck man have fun and be safe! i don't know what the water levels would be but last i heard it was still good....

Thanks guy,
My problem is I've never been there so it's kind of hard for me to follow your info. I can see it on Google maps, etc, so if you can tell me which lake N, w.lake or S.E. lake and where on the lake, it would help. I kind of got the idea you're talking the damn side lake (S.E. lake) and a island on the West shore about mid way on the lake?? If that's it, do I park on the E. side and float across? Anyway, any additional info, would help.

Oh I'm sorry i did not know you have never been there before okay what im talking about is when you first arrive at twin lakes (there is a $5.00 per car load fee you must pay) you will see the dam on you're right side i believe south side and a dbl locked gate that is the dam im talking about keep going east you will find several camp grounds numbered and you will come up on a long dock kinda right in the middle we went past that the road kinda turns south and you will come up a hill and right there you will find kinda a day camp or a day picknick area you can park there just make sure its not a numbered camp site and when it is low it turns in to 2 different lakes but when it is high it looks as one well we launched right there where this day site is and you will see a island there this will have several trees there but will be opened up to launch a toon/tube and we fished are way across that island bout 7 to 9 feet west of this island picked up nice LMB there i hope this has helped you if not send me a pm and i will give you my number and i can tell you better via telephone good luck n have fun

How was the crappie and bluegill fishing, Did you get any of them and any size to them?

The crappie were very sparse. The bluegill were there in numbers, but not size. When we cleaned the bluegill, they smelled funny. Not all of them, but I wonder why? The flesh smelled like it went bad. We cleaned them as soon as we caught them. Any ideas?

I have always liked eating the bluegill out of Twin Lakes. They are usually the biggest bluegill in the area. Something must have happened to them.

I always fish the trees on the Southeast corner of the lake.

My grandmother used to say that the bad smell in bluegill is caused by spawning stress, and may be followed by a die off, like the one two or three years ago at Twin Lakes. I always throw the stinky ones away and eat the rest.

Also, is the gate across the north dam locked now? It was open two weeks ago when I was there.

no its still open i am not sure when they plan on locking it ..... but i did enjoy one nice crappie i got, that was i don't normally fish for em but when i landed it in my canoe i thought id better try it and see what it taste like. the water was nice landed a bow and many many perch and gills the gills, and perch wasnt there in size so did not bother with them we enjoyed a nice sunset with nice still water and called it a day after a cpl of hours fishing....
