This was our first time trying for Kokanee and our first time using down riggers. It took a little time to figure it out, but we learned by trial and error, and lost alot of fish! We ended up with 8 Kokanee, and about 15-20 cutts and planter bows. The fishing was slow over all but I was happy that everyone on my boat caught there first Koke. We fished with kokanee killers, wedding rings, apex, and RMT. The only Kokanee we caught were on RMT, pink dogers, 50/50 pink and silver dogers, followed by UV pink squid, and pink squid. If it wasn't pink the they wouldn't touch it! We fished the SC side, in the narrows and straight out from the dock. We caught fish from 50 feet to 30 feet with 36 being the best. We also used Pro Cure Carp Spit on all lures. Best speed was 1.6 mph. Thanks for the tips LH2 and KokeHead. Pics below.

Sounds like a great trip, glad you got into some Kokes' i'll probably head up next week and try to get some also. I was up over the 24th but the trout fishing was so good we just couldn't break away. I did head through the Narrows for a little sight seeing trip, man that is a gorgeous lake. I am just re-discovering the Berry', had been about 15 yrs. since I last fished it and I am falling in love again[Wink]

You say you caught them right out from the docks. I had no idea the kokes were in that bay over the summer. I always heard they would be off of the beaver dam right before the narrows on the SC side. Where is everyone catching them this year??

I will be back to Utah in August and would like to catch my first koke at the berry.

Brody,
Looks like the secret is out about the Kokanee at Strawberry.
I bet that the tackle shops will be having a hard time keeping pink RMT tackle on their shelves now!

By the way did you get my PM?

No doubt. When it works, it works.
Yes, i got your pm and you just have to leave the skin on the meat.[Wink]
