Had a birthday party in the Uintas up near Evanston (25 to 30 miles out) on the Mirror Lake Hwy. (SR-150) near the Bear River Lodge up there. anyway, took the fly flipper with me and hit the river about 5:30. Bad idea. Wind was probably around 30 mph and swirling around like a druken monkey. made it pretty hard to back cast and get anything smaller than a 4 oz weighted woly bugger into any kind of hole. needless to say with all the stamina, beer, and fishing idocy I posess all i caught was a chapped hiney from the "W" pushing me around the river. tried it on about a 100 yard stretch near the road for easy access, had the fam with me. should have known better. weather forcast said moderate to sever thunderstorms up there that day and it never rained on us, but it did spritz us a few times and the breeze was spectacular. i think the temps were still in the high 70's maybe low 80's even with the inclements.
