Went to Ririe friday for the first time in 20+ years. Last time I fished Ririe, Blacktail had 2 picnic tables and that was it. We got there about 7:30 and drove around a bit making reservations for an upcoming trip we have planned. We got on the water about 8:15 and fished until 5:00. Wow, what a day of fishing. The ol lady and I ended up catching 72 Kokes, 2 Perch, 2 Cutthroats, and 1 Rainbow. We lost atleast another 50 since the wind was blowing and it was hard to shut the engine off while reeling in fish and stay straight so we would not tangle things up. Caught everything trolling using downriggers and divers. The Kokes are just starting to turn as they have a slight hint of red to them and the jaws are starting to hook. Most of the Kokes were 10"-12" but we did get a stringer full of 13"-15". They would take just about anything we threw at them. Koke trolling rigs, spinners, spoons, worms and even salmon eggs. The 2 perch we caught were 8" and 10" and caught them on a spinner. The Cutthroat were also caught on spinners and were 12" and 13". The one and only Rainbow was caught on a spinner and was 12". Everything seemed small, but I guess I am spoiled from fishing PaliSades so much and averaging 14"-19" up there. It was a fun day and definately kept us busy. There were times we had 3 fish hooked at a time. I may have to do some ice fishing up there this winter. I have not done any ice fishing in about 10 years.

I love Ririe. I fished the other end of Ririe on Friday with my oldest boy. We were concentrating on bass. Like you said the wind was blowing hard and so we did have a hard time staying straight. I ended up catching 7 smallmouth but and my boy caught 3. Most of them were small but I caught two over 14."

I was using a drop shot with an olive colored fluke.

We missed a lot of fish because the wind was blowing our line all over and it was difficult to detect the strikes.

We got off the water at 10AM because the water skiiers were starting to drive me crazy.

I took my buddy up to Ririe on Satruday, he had never fished out of a boat and I promised him a limit of kokes. We got all the way across the lake when the boat died. After about 10 minutes of drifiting in the wind I found the fuel line had a gasket that was cut and would only suck air unless I was constantly pumping the ball. But with a new fisherman in the boat there was no way I could pump the ball and run the downrigger and rig the lines net the fish ect.. So we called it a day without even wetting our lines. Nothing worse than having your fishing trip ruined by a 5 dollar part.[mad] Anyways thanks for the report its like rubbing salt in a wound LOL.
