I took a bunch of youth fishing up at Lost Creek on 8/1. We were confined to the bank and tried all sorts of lures and bait. We tried over by the boat ramp first but didn't catch anything. We moved over by the dam and finished out the morning. The fishing was very slow with only 3 fish caught. But the kids had a great time catching crawdads. They filled a couple of bottles full of them and we cooked them up that night. The next morning I got to fish the Weber for an hour or so. We had access to private property in the Peterson area. The river was in great shape and I ended up catching a 16" brown and an 8" inch cutt, both on a nymph. This was first time in quite a few years that I have fished with my fly rod. It brought back a lot of fun memories. That little brown fought like a champ, jumping twice and making me work that light leader.

Thanks for posting your report PDS, too bad the catching wasn't better but it sounds like the kids had fun. What kind of bait did you use at Lost creek? WH2

We tried power bait, night crawlers, worm and marshmallow, marshmallow and salmon eggs. Usually we do well with the colored marshmallows and anything attached to it, but no one was catching much that day from shore except a couple of older gentlemen right next to us. But they were using the same thing as we were, worm and marshmallow. We caught two of the three on the eggs and mallow. My guess is that it is just too hot and fish are deeper away from shore.
