Yep the lads went fishing yestreday, and lucky for Fuzzy's and me, his son and my G-son felt sorry for us old poops and drug us along for chits and giggles.
From the get go the channels were showing no mercy. Before I had a chance to rig up a nice kittie had jerked my G-son's rod out from under its "rock it down" and took it for a swim. 30 minutes later, and two more cats and a 4 or 5 whites, the missing bobber and fishing rod showed up and I was able to rescue my G-son's fishing pole, kittie still attached. The young guns really show us old boys how to get the job done yesterday. I never kept count but All-n-all its my best guess the bunch of us landed better than 25 channel cats ranging from 1 to 8 pounds.
Its rare I haul a camera along when fishing but I usually do when I'm fishing with my G-kids. I didnt yesterday and will kick myself for years..

Ron:
It was fun to share the shoreline with you and Tommy and I'm glad you guys enjoyed H/R. Fishing was good, and the catching wasnt bad either.
Kent: Yep, its a honey hole thats treated me extremely well for Channels and Whites over the past 40+ years. But, we only beached one Muddy yesterday.
Pat: Shhh, I know the driver
Yeah, you know me,, I dont bother with cameras much whether I'm smacking Perch or Mack,, unless,, I'm fishing with the youngsters. I really chapped my rear end yesterday by forgetting the camera. Then again, I figured Ron would have his. NOT, LOL!

Way to go guys!!. I better get out there & get in some more practice. Or better yet, maybe I would have better luck using the tweety bird pole huh?? LOL

i know a lot about gunnison resevoir.. lol what ya need knowing?
if ya looking for big cat's in gunnison your about 20 years late.. i did catch one out of there that was 28 lbs 38" but for some reason now day's the water drops so much and the DWR dont even want to do anything with it so it's just a carp haven more or less.. it grows a ton of carp they drane it all them carp go to yuba and next year it will happen again... it's like a big toilet right above yuba and every time they flush it around 20 to 30 ton's of carp get flushed with it!!
i have not tryed the bass in there this year last year they were 6 to 8 inchs so there could be some 2 to 2/ 1/2 lber's in there but not meny i'm sure! the dwr only planted 500 in last year.. i did here a rumer that someone planted some perch in there not the DWR! who should have!!!sure would like to shake they'er hand and say nice job tho.. at lest someone is trying!!!

Catching lots of Channels and only one Muddy is the kind of catfishing that I love (as I am sure you do to). Unfortunately, my catching is sometimes reversed from your experience. I am sure there is a reason that they saw the need to plant those mud cats way back when, but other than providing fish for the kids to catch (which isn't all that bad) I can't figure it out.

I am interested in the bass fishing there. I here there are lots of boat docks on the water. Also how is DMAD i believe that is the name.... thanks for the info above :-)

ok well we are getting way off topic here... Austin and tommy's fishing trip..
your talking about gunnison bend! not gunnison res.. about 30 to 50 miles southwest of delta. somewhere..
both have bass in them! 1 (gunnison res is above yuba)
gunnison bend is below yuba, and DMAD,, i dont know much about ether one.. other than when yuba was drained about a 1000 ton's of carp went down stream as well.. so i guess you can figure how fishing might be there..
there is no docks in gunnison res. there is not even a real boat ramp! just a dirt road..
pm me i'll give ya all i know of gunnison. res.

3M:
Thanks, yeah the boys did good. Actually the Tweedy Bird pole didnt find its way into the trunk that go-round, LOL!
Kent:
Well I suppose I'm a rare bird when it comes to Muddies. I've never had a problem pulling their hides and tossing them on a baking sheet after seasoning them well with lemon pepper..

The 'Dude' fillets them and we cook them the same as the channels and they are a very delicate, delicious meat!

Its been years ago but while fishing for channels at night in the early spring time we'd have a fire. Nothing was better than to guts a bunch of muddies and toss them on the coals (skins still attached). Once cooked we'd peel the hides and chow down. Cold Bud and coals cooked muddies,, Good stuff!
