I'm being dragged to my wifes work party this weekend in Gunnison...is it worth fishing the reservoir for any species at all? Is there enough water to tow a tube around? Is it worth bringing my boat? I'll have my kiddos with me, is there a 'beach' to play on? I'll have my kiddos with me so fishing is not as important this weekend as entertaining.

Hit yuba its only a few miles away. I dont think there is much water in there but the one person who would know is fuzzy. Good luck this weekend wherever you go.

I found out that I WILL be at Gunnison and this is not one of my fishing trips where I can yada yada [shocked]. I'd like to catch some bass at Gunnison, not expecting to catch anything big but I'd like to stay entertained.

Had a blast at Gunnison. Parked the boat on the shoreline and my daughter I caught about 40+ carp in three feet of water sitting on the back deck. I have never seen that many carp before. Most were 1-5 lbs.

No bass? Well at least you guys had fun thats all that matters.

how was the water level there? i have been thinking of running down and seeing if the boys want to do some sking.. about all it's good for any more!

oh BTW what ya think of sandpet's carp factury? nice huh? hard to beleve there was 1 1/2 lb perch 5 to 6 lb bass and 20 + lb cat in there at one time huh?

The water level seemed alright. I graphed 20-21' everywhere I went while cruising around and absolutley no structure on the bottom. At one point there might have been three boats on the water at one time. Which makes sense, why ski where nobody is fishing? [Wink]

how far down was it from the high water mark?

sounds to me like it's only down about 10 feet?

Does anyone have any pictures of Gunnison? I need to add it to my site, but I don't have any pics of it.

Thanks,
Kevin

Ron, curious which direction one drives from Gunnison City to get to Gunnison Reservoir.
[signature]
north east.. much easyer getting there from manti or sterling.. the road going to palaSades from 89.. go about 1/4 of a block past it heading south and turn right insted of left it's a dirt road. about a mile to the dam from 89. or the first road in manti heading south turn right (west)at the fair grownds past the school and the kmti radio station.. keep going tell it splits take the left road for about 3 miles ya can't miss it! that the best way.. and the way to the dirt boat ramp.. you can not launch on the west side going through sterling.. not sure if there has been a ramp put in there yet or not.. might be i never got to the dam today stayed to the midle and south end..
