[#008000]Since I don't know which model Quantum/Zebco baitcasting reel you have, I'll just try to give you an over-view of the concept.[/#008000]
[#008000][/#008000]
[#008000]The Dynamag cast control is a mechanism that reduces the rotation of the spool on the beggining and ending of the cast. In essence - it decreases the potential for back lashes (bird's nests).[/#008000]
[#008000][/#008000]
[#008000]On some models, the cast control is a dial you will find on the opposite side of the reel from the cranking handle. On other models, it is inside the reel casing and the cover has to be removed in order to adjust it. And, on some of the even older models or conventional reels, the spool needs to be accessed and in some cases, removed entirely to get to the control adjustments.[/#008000]
[#008000][/#008000]
[#008000]If you don't mind, could you specify which model reel you have ? [/#008000]

[#008000]P.S. If you are not familiar with casting reels, you will find that a bit of practice will be required to pick up on the technique. There is a learning curve involved, but, there are some tips that can reduce some of the frustrations to a minimun.[/#008000]

My bet is that it is as simple as turning the dial. I don't know which way increases or decreases the backlash brake, but it'll be easy to determine by feel when pulling the line out once the cast button is pressed.

Here's an article (not great):

Here is a good artitcle about using a baitcaster, article. One thing I have found is if you want a good bc reel than you have to spend some $. I haven't paid over $150 but not less than $100 per reel. I prefer Quantum Accurists and Team Daiwa reels, they are simple in design and fit in my hand great.

I second that! You get what you pay for (although you can go over the top). I love fishing the shimano curado and wish I had a couple more. I have a couple others that were about $90 but they just don't compare!
