Hi. Is it better to fish freshwater during the New Moon or the Full Moon? I know that the tides are lower during the New and higher during the Full. When are the fish more likely to be around for us? I want to fill my freezer .

It is better to fish daylight hours during the New moon. That goes for fresh or saltwater.

It is better to fish the night time hours during the Full moon. Same for fresh or salt.

High tides are generally higher during the last waxing of the full moon up through the entire full moon.

Low tides will peak at the negative tide level during the new moon and usually during daylight hours.

You still get high tides weather it is New or Full moon. There is just a longer fishing cycle during the Full moon time of the month.

Hi again! I actually just started fishing again after about a 10 year absence. I lost interest for awhile, mostly due to such busy-ness, but my love for fishing never died. I'm not into fishing for competition. I used to fish with my dad for fun & food. I would catch Perch, Bluegill, and Trout. I've been out twice in the past week, and caught nothing though. I kind of forgot how to fish and where to go, I guess. I'm trying to get my groove back. I'd like to eventually catch some Catfish too. Trying to fill up a freezer.
