I've never seen a "fish boil" other than pictures here and there but I've never seen this! I went to the Jordan river a few nights back and saw what looked to me to be a catfish boil. They looked like muds to me. I've never seen this before and was wondering what would cause this with catfish? I also saw a bunch of schools of little black fish I had never seen before. I netted a few and turns out to be tiny catfish. Seemed weird to see this in one day when I've never seen this before in all the years fishing this river. Thought it was interesting. I did catch a few kittys while I was there but nothing big.

Great pictures, I have seen catfish boil on the Colorado River near Parker AZ. The Catfish do like live fish, they are not as much as a scavenger as people think.

I saw some cat fish schools like this at lake powell recently but they did not boil. I saw a minnow boil at the berry last time I was there, and a bird that looked like a seagull would vomit in the water creating a minnow boil, and then the bird would dive in the water and eat the minnows.

Those are some awesome pics. Too many times I have heard of an event just to use my imagination to picture it.

Snake River Channel Catfish Boils. Very Cool!

The channel cats do that on Brownlee Reservoir in Idaho. We got into them a couple times. Had to throw small cut baits. Crappie. Some of my friends will fly fish them when they are boiling. The event lasts about 2-3 weeks weather permitting. Pretty amazing sight seeing thousands of cats up feeding like that. It was surprising how specific they were about what they would eat. Cats are normally not fussy but they would not eat any thing but small fresh cut baits.

I caught them on a speed trap crankbait. Very fun! Very Cool!

the catfish should be doing this in U.L. right now. I've seen them in August in A.F. harbor and Saratoga in big balls around the boat ramp. it's cool to see this kind of thing. later chuck

Those seagull looking things are called 'Terns'

They're sucking air and the schools of babies many times have mom underneath protecting them though those look just a tad older . 5 or 6 times I have seen people reach into the school of babies only to be smacked by mom.
