I saw a picture of an 8 pound rainbow taken out of Anderson Ranch recently. I never seem to pick up an incidental trout when fishing for kokes there. Any of you have any info about this? I am wondering if this was a fluke, or if it is a largely undiscovered fishery. I know they do pick up some nice ones from the shore at ice out, but certainly not 8 pounders!! Mike

Kodiak: I saw an 8 pounder come out of L.P. last year. Lady held it up as she passed us and said it weighed 8lbs. They were flatlining something; no DR's. Looked bigger but any Bow over 5lbs. looks huge. Also saw a guy with a 5+ pounder fishing from the bank right next to Turner Gulch two years ago. Worms or power bait. He had a stringer with 20 fish or so. Had 3 other guys with him that hopefully were license holders but he was catching all the trout. Maybe that's what we see at 60 feet or so on the finders?

I've caught rainbows from the bank halfway between the dam and the resort. Just worm and marshmallow. No lunkers though. [:/]

Maybe we need to explore those blips more! I did drop down several years ago, and discovered pikeminnows. But they weren't as deep as 60 ft. Also, I found the large schools we have been occasionally seeing at 150+ off the point the other day. This also continues to be a mystery. I should ask the F&G. Glad you enjoyed Stanley. We were up there two weekends ago, and it was crowded. I hammered the trout on the river, all planters, of course, and none too large. Still, it was fun. We need to get up there some spring, and go after those macs in Stanley Lake. There are fish in the 15+ lb. category in there. Let me know if you go up to L.P. again. Mike

Thanks for the info, Kristi. I know they dump a few thousand trout in there each year, but that isn't many considering the size of the reservoir. Mike
