Hit the Middle Weber on Saturday. Got on the river about 9:30 or so to a swarm of caddis. I tied on a size 14 beadhead hare's ear and a size 16 scud. First drag through a sweet hole and I got a 14 inch whitefish. Whew no skunk. Jumped down river between my cousin and I. He long released two, I caught another whitefish. Met up with two other anglers and watched as one pulled in a 12 inch brown on a scud. The other caught another whitefish from the hole I was just in. We moved down river more, and as the sun came up the caddis left and the PMD's started to come on strong. We came around the bend and watched as three guides hooked up some people with fish. I moved down river more, swapped my scud with a size 16 PMD and things really pick up. I dragged it throug a hole and immediatly got a 12 inch rainbow. The very next float the indicator twitched, I set the hook and by rod bend double. 15 minutes later I am releasing a very healty fat 23 inch 3 pound rainbow. I got a picture of it on my camera (non-digital) I will try to post it when I get it developed. Two more floats and a 16 inch brown hit, then my last float a 14 inch cutthroat. All but the cutt on the PMD the cut hit the hare's ear. I didn't have any more PMD's, so I gave my cousin a modified South Ogden Slayer (a fly I use with good success on the South Fork of the Ogden). We moved back up and he moved around the bend. I heard him hollar for help and I hurried up river to see his rod bend double. 10-15 minutes later a very nice fat health 22 inch brown is at hand on my South Ogden Slayer (SOS). I guess in a pinch it looks like a PDM emerger. I got the fish on my cell phone and will try to post it later. We moved back up river and I hit my last hole and got another whitefish. We left the river about 1:30. So I got a grandslam on the Weber, 1 brown (16 inch), 2 bows (12 inch, 23 inch), one cutt (14 inch) plus some whitefish (14-16 inches). If you want my South Ogden Slayer recipe I will PM it to you. The flies that worked where scud, hare's ear, pmd emerger (do not put floatant on it, fish it as a nymph without weight works great my two biggest fish were on this), and the SOS.
