I know a lot of people hit FG for the Koke fishing, but I seam to remember my aunt and uncle use to always head up to Fontaelle for them as they said the quality of fish was better and the pressure was less is this true?

A lot of the Wyoming guys visit our board but you might get a better response by posting your question on their board, just a thought.

Kokeking was just up to Fontenelle a week ago. It is at full pool, Dirty water and a mess for fishing. He tried for kokes, only three bows. Tim fishes that lake often and said its slow but will pick up later for the browns hopefully

Flaming Gorge has possibly the healthiest populations of kokes in the US. They don't get much bigger than the size you see come out of the Gorge. People come from all around the US to catch Gorge kokes.

i read somewhere that the gorge has the largest strain (bloodline or whatever you want to call it) of kokanee in the United states. the Gorge does get a lot of pressure but the lake is so big and there are so many kokes you can find your own little area and catch em up and do just as well as the guys that were all stacked up on one spot. just my opinion.

i dont know about the strain being the biggest. what i do know i fg grows them the biggest! no other place in the usa has kokes like fg. big in most states is 18 inches. strawberry has some toads as well but they have declined in #,s.[fishin]

I read somewhere that the game and fish gets the eggs and sperm from the kokanee run on New Fork Lakes and that this is what results in the stocked kokanee in the gorge. If so, New Fork could have some biguns too. Don't really know though, never been there, never even heard of anyone fishing it.
