We will be in Nampa for the next week and would love to fish Lake Lowell. Can you fish from the shore? Can you rent a boat anywhere? If so where?
And do we need a special 1 day license?

Sadly, I live very close to Lake Lowell, but can't answer all your questions.

Whenever I drive along the dam, there are always good numbers of people fishing there. The lake is quite shallow, warm, and generally covered with water skiiers. In the waterfowl hunting seasons, they close most of the lake to boats.

No boat rental that I know of.

I'm not a warm-water fishing guy, although according to the state, they've planted 100s of thousands of lohontan cutts in there. I've never heard of anyone actually getting one......

Good luck and have fun.

I, too, live by Lake Lowell but don't do much fishing there so I can't help you out either.

It looks like a 1 day non-resident fishing license is $11.50 and $5.00 a day for each additional day (at time of purchase).

Not sure about the boat rental thing either.

I've fished Lake Lowell a lot in the spring and it is great for largemouth bass. Also perch and crappie. There is suppose to be trout but never have caught one. The lake is closed to boats from Sept 15 to April 15. You do have to have a nonresident fishing license. I don't know about renting a boat but that is the best way to fish the lake. The lake is full of water smartweed along the edges and can be as far as 50 to 75 yards out into the lake. The lake is down about 8 foot right now. The best places to fish from shore is along the dams or wherever the smartweeds aren't growing. The bass are usually along the edges of the smartweeds. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Just to offer my 2 cents, it's been a long time since I've fished Lake Lowell, but back in the day we used to catch catfish in there. I remember catching a trout once and I believe I caught a bluegill another time. I've never heard of anyplace that rents boats at the lake..... but that doesn't mean there isn't a place. There are quite a few places that you can fish from shore, although many places are only accessible with a boat. There's also lots of people that go there to play, both from shore and in boats. Good luck!
