Hi,
I'm new to the forum, I recently started to pick up fishing and had a lot of fun. Today I caught this fish, don't know what it is, your help is appreciated!

definitely *not* a carp.
Looks a little like a shad of some sort, but the body seems a little narrow for that.
Where did you catch it?

Lake Washington

It almost looks like a juvenile Walleye. Does it have teeth??
If there are not big teeth then it could be a larger Fat Head Minnow.[cool]

Thanks a lot for the reply. I don't remember if it has teeth or not, I'll double check!

It looks like some sort of shiner to me. It is not a redside but very similar.[

I think it's probably a silver carp. (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_carp). We steamed it today and it has A LOT of bones! And it tasted like that. Since this one was so slim (only a little over half a pound), I didn't recognize it at the beginning.

It looks like you are correct. Way to go.[cool]

I answered this on another forum...it is a peamouth.

I still have difficulty with fish ID, but I know this one from experience...LOL
