I am planning another sturgeon trip![
] I have one confirmed angler and another one who lives in Idaho, who will be fishing with us on one day, so there is room for one more angler. We will be going up near Mountain Home, Idaho fishing from my 19.5’ boat. We will leave Bountiful area at about 3:30 PM Wednesday September 3rd and return Saturday evening September 6th. If the forecast is for stormy or windy weather the trip may be cancelled.
We share expenses for fuel and bait. Each person should plan on spending around $130 ($13.75 more if a two-rod permit is purchased) for fuel, bait, and a three-day fishing license. I have tackle that can be borrowed; however, if any tackle is lost or broken I will expect to be reimbursed. Only other expenses would be cost of food (we eat out once going each way) and then each of us is responsible for our own food. We camp on the river at no cost. For those not familiar with sturgeon, they are the largest freshwater fish in North America. The largest we have caught from my boat was caught on my last trip (June 2008) 92 inches and would weigh around 235 pounds. On that same trip, I am quite certain that I lost a larger one that was burning my drag until it broke off my 80 pound Dacron leader.[frown] Of course I can not make any guarantees; however, based upon previous trips the likelihood of us catching several sturgeons is high. My fall trips have often been my best trips. Here are a couple links to previous fall trips.
