[unimpressed] Went to Willard about 4:30. Went with me, myself, and I. Boy with the three of us out there a guy can't a word in edge wise. Calm, not to many others out. Chocolate Milk Waters though.
Trolled down North side and accross West side. No bites. Marked fish, changed out many lures and varied speed to no avail. Did not see any others boat any either. Very warm but calm and glassy. Went up to East end and floated around fishing for cats with one pole weightless on bottom and another with a casting bobber with 5' leader. Both had shrimp and a nite-crawler. No bites in 1.5 hours despite moving around in water from 6' down to 3'. Lots of carp rolling around though.

Watched and fished out from some bank tanglers on the North side of the North Marina and did not see them catch anything either.

Skunked but was a great day for putting around and looking at the mountains.

Saw two boaters going out for nite fishing. No one at cleaning station when I came in at 8:00 p.m. and did not get to talk to anyone else.

Thought about going up to Pineview. Son went up and said there were a lot of people up their powering around. Will have to hit that during the week and in the am.

Going to FG next weekend for the three-day weekend.

We were out there about the same time along the North dike, which boat were you in? Too bad you did not have any luck, we caught a few but it was slow. WH2

Looks like a fun time was had by all. Two of your files are huge -- feel free to take mercy on those with slower connection speeds by resizing them.

Sorry at work it wont let me.Has anyone notice the catfishing slowing at willard lately or is it just me? I only started catching them this year and was wondering if it is just the time of year or what? It seems like people have been having alot of luck elsewhere.Wiper fshing is still just ok . I still would like to get me a walleye.

Blue and White Bayliner 19' Discovery. Electric bowmount and mercury 6hp troller.

Was sitting out on back using the remote troller to steer the boat.

This is the first year that I have reaaly done a lot of fishing out there and caught catfish, wiper, walleye, and even a bass. Before I would hit the crappie in spring then go elsewhere so I really can't gauge what it is compared to other years other than talking with my co-workers who have fished there consistantly over the years.

And this is what I summarize from their conversations:

Catfishing earlier in year and until lately up as lower lake level has concentrated them.

Wipers consistant except as compared to "boils" action which is a lot less than normally (I have not seen them this year and did when I had my jetskis but did not fish for them then). Dinner table theory is that particularly now the lake level is so low that there is little rock cover that the water reaches so the shad are spread all over or greatly diminished this year therefore wipers are not congregated together like they typically are.

Crappie no structure so therefore are pretty much decimated as food (skip one or two generations).

Walleye always a mystery there for those I talk to. My catching experience (which is not much) is not typical for what the books on Walleye Fishing I have read say.

SM Bass not much convo on that one but the cover issue is probably related as Willard is now pretty much a bowl full of silt except for a few rocky mounds. A couple of people I work with and are a little older than I grew up out around there just before Willard was built and filled and have some pretty interesting stories about that area when it was marsh and fields.

What I have been paying attention to is the structure that will be under water when it fills up and the directions they run.
