Friday morning I hooked with a couple of buddies of mine. It was Jerome's birthday, and what better time than to tag along for a cat trip on Utah Lake [fishin] and try to help them find some.
Boy we did, and it was a blast.[sly]
Hit the lake around 7 am at American Fork boat harbor. Tried to catch a few (fresh) white bass, but no luck, well, just 1 about 2"[:p].
Headed out of the harbor towards the North west corner of the lake, just out from Sarratoga. The water was glass, to start with. It got a little breezy[:/], but not bad.
About the first 25 minutes, not a nibble. So we started targeting areas away from the reeds, and whamo!! FISH ON!! I caught the first one at about 7 lbs and it was a good fighter.
The other two were having troubles getting the fish to stay on, so I hooked them up with Circle C hooks, and it was good catching from there.
Jerome's Brother was our bait man. He seemed to catch nothing but white bass[laugh], so our bait was freshly stocked. He did indeed start getting some good kitties later in the day, and then he wasn't ready to leave when we were.
We had several, as you will see in the pics, that were over 10 lbs. The largest was about 12 lbs, and was right at 32 inches. Total for the day had to be well over 40 Cats[cool]. We threw alot of them back. We did keep our 24 fish limit, as the other two had a fish fry the next day to feast on.
It was a great day and Happy Birthday Jerome!!
