Hey, just wanted to thank every one for all the help...
Arrived around 8:30, later than I wanted to. The wind was blowing in 12-15mph, which drove most of the people away by 9pm. I drove out to the end of the southern dike. Didn't have any luck with the White Bass, so I was using the carp meat I brought. There were a couple of people on the very tip of the dike, so I started on the south side, fishing South East-ish on the bottom as far out as possible. As people cleared out, I worked my way out to the tip and fished due East. Around 10pm I hooked up on a 26" that was entertaining to land by myself. Took a pic (attached) with my phone and released it...I fished until 2:30, got a couple light taps but no more hook ups.
I did talk to a few people out there...the guys on the end of the dike were convinced I wouldn't get anything but mud cats and White Bass. I assume they were using small baits and just didn't know any better. A couple guys showed up around 11, fishing with lighted bobbers and about a 4' leader. They said it was the slowest night they'd ever seen and left around 1. Sounds like they had good luck using that setup in the past with nightcrawlers...they said they catch a variety, everything from Cats to Whites.
So yeah, I think I'll try Lindon next time, see what happens. Oh, by the way the bugs were absolutely HORRENDOUS. My advice is to turn OFF your dome light before you hit the dike, so it doesn't come on when you open your door. Just bad news all the way around. [pirate]
