I headed up to the Nell this morning for some top water action I hoped...

Last night I told myself I needed to get some gas in the boat, but this morning I forgot to stop...

I got to the Nell at 5:45 and on the water by 6:00 the water temp. was 54 at first light, I got on my first spot and my first cast was hooked up....

Yep hooked up on my first cast but! it was a trout a brown about 22" long (didn't use the tape just eye ball) but this was the first time I caught a trout on a poper (dumb trout)...

In the next 15 minutes I had 6 more near misses but by the time the third miss happen I had a senko type lure and would cast it right on the missed spot and hook what I think was the same fish...

When I went to move to my second spot I remembered I forgot to gas up well too late now...

I worked three or more spots and gave up on the top water the only fish that got hooked was the brown all the bass would do is swirl at it...

But the drop shot and senko was working great in one spot I boated 43 bass from 13" to 19 1/2" long...

About 10:30 I headed for Rock cliff arm and went all the way to the back, I worked from one side to the other and only got bass under 12" when I got to the north side at the buoy line coming out and tried to take off I ran out of gas...

I headed out the arm on my trolling motor in to a good wind I put on a crank and jerk bait and worked the hole north side all the way out and got a good tail wind from the mouth to the boat launch...It only took 4 hour to get there and only hooked 5 bass under 12" and two trout on the way out...

[#000000]I have heard from a few guys our of Green River and Rock Springs who fish the Gorge and say that you can catch big browns at night on topwater certian times of the year. They like big mice and duckling immitations. [/#000000]

[#000000]Do you ever fish for bass at night? [/#000000]

Not that much.. Mice are used alot on streams for browns and other trout, what I was using was a poper plug type lure..

I'm sure others have got them on this type of lure before but it was my first and so far my only, I also at Powell got a walleye on top water one time and cat fish...
