I decided to go up to the WMA near Sardine Canyon. I drove up a road i have never been on. It got a little touchy near the top so i decided to take another trail back down. Nothing terrible, but something happened with my drive train and i had to bail out 3 or 4 seconds befor my truck jumped the road and rolled down a 400' vertical(almost) hill to the bottom of the canyon. M leg is sore from the jump and i am shaken up a bit, but for the most part i am extremely luck to be alive. When i opened the door the first time, it closed on me! I had a death grip on the handle and opened it again and pushed myself out with my left foot. Rolled through the sage brush and then i blacked out.
It took the 2 wreckers 4 hours to get it back on the road. Not a fun day. No grouse hunting was accomplished. So much for exploring new places.[:/]

I had a good day in comparison if it makes you feel any better [crazy]. Were you wearing your seatbelt or did you just bail out? Either way, consider yourself lucky.

I always take my seat belt off on dirt roads. I am just thankful my son stayed home this time. I don't go on roads that are even questionable with him in the truck.[:/]

Wow, that is scary!!! I'm glad you are okay. Sorry to hear about the truck though.

WOW!! Reminds me of when I rolled my 4Runner 3 years ago.
Glad that it was a "could have been worse" than an obituary experience. I have always wondered what it would be like to bail from a moving vehicle and if and when you would know that it was time to do so. I also don't wear a seat belt in difficult conditions and my wife hates it. I will have to show her your post.
Hope you get up and to it soon. If you need any fishing buddies to tow you around, let us know and I am sure there will be some volunteers.
Best of luck in your recoveries and vehicle replacement.

OMG! I have the same model truck. Let us know if you find out what went wrong. That's scary!

I take my seatbelt off as well in questionable situations, well, I used to. Now I have my wheeler and my 4 door longbed keeps me from doing anything crazy in my truck. Things could have been worse, which was mentioned. Hope everything works out ok and glad that nobody was hurt.

Wow! Too bad about your truck but glad your alright and that your boy wasn't with you. My neighbor had to bail out like that once but landed on a pile of rocks and broke his back. Glad to hear your alright.

Brody, sorry to read about your life-threatening experience. Glad you lived to fish another day. Not sure that I would have the sense to bail out.

Ya know, everyone has asked me how i could have bailed out. I didn't really even think about it when i knew it was not going to stop. I grabbed the handle and did what my body told me to do.

Glad to hear you are ok. We still have fish to catch.
